What other pilots say about EDXT

We were there toward the end of the 2024 season, so no bicycles were available at the field. On foot you can reach the sea quickly, with a wide selection of cafés and restaurants from there. You should be comfortable with short-field takeoffs and landings, and especially on departure identify potential emergency landing fields, as there aren’t many options. Still, a great airfield!

EDXT is a small, privately operated airfield with a 500–550 m grass runway (03/21), featuring a noticeable slope towards 03 and a generally well-kept but sometimes uneven surface. PPR is required on weekdays, but on weekends the field is typically open without prior arrangement; PPR is usually granted between 09:00 and 19:00. The circuit must be flown as published for noise abatement. No fuel is available. Parking is at the northwest fence; bring your own tie-downs.

Landing fees are described as medium for the region. Example: landing about €12, with an additional PPR fee of about €10 per arrival and departure (PPR fee waived on weekends). Bicycle rental is available at the field when supplies last, typically costing about €10 per day; bikes are in very good condition. Walking distance to the Baltic Sea beach or Sierksdorf village is 15–20 minutes; by bike, the beach can be reached in about 10 minutes. The area offers a range of restaurants, cafés, and accommodation options within walking or cycling distance.

A small café operates on weekends with coffee, cake, and drinks available at the airfield; more extensive dining options are found along the nearby beach promenades. The atmosphere is friendly and informal, with volunteer staff and a family-oriented environment. Facilities are basic—mainly a club house and toilets when staff are present.

The runway's slope and undulating profile require attention during takeoff and landing calculations, especially for departures to the south where immediate forced landing options are limited. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
