AirfieldBot
EDWN offers a friendly and professional atmosphere with consistently helpful staff. Both northern and southern circuit patterns are available, and the airfield is well suited for VFR operations. The adjacent ED-R 37A military area is typically inactive on weekends but may be active on weekdays; circuit procedures are straightforward when active, and the airspace does not present significant operational issues. The paved runway is 900 meters long and in good condition, though the grass apron can be somewhat uneven—caution is advised when taxiing, especially after wet weather. Temporary hangar space is usually available, sometimes with independent access.
Facilities include Avgas at competitive prices, on-field rental bicycles, and occasional accommodation in the club’s facilities. A restaurant has operated on site, but its availability may vary as new management is sought. The airfield lies about 10 km from Nordhorn and 12 km from Lingen; taxis can be arranged by staff, though wait times may be long.
Example: landing and hangar fee about €20.
The airfield is active with gliding operations and features parallel glider strips. Approaches over wooded areas can be turbulent or require short-field technique due to tree proximity. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM for current details.
