Rottweil Zepfenhan Airport (EDSZ)

EDSZ is a scenic airfield with an asphalt runway, situated near Rottweil and the Swabian Alb. PPR is required Monday to Friday, with requests typically handled via Aerops or by phone; procedures and staff helpfulness vary, and some pilots report unfriendly or curt responses, especially regarding PPR or assistance for gliders. Example: PPR about €30. Landegebühren are generally low; multiple examples show about €8 for single-engine aircraft, with one higher example for overnight stays and hangar use. Payment is often via Aerops or cash.

A small on-field restaurant offers cake, coffee, and light meals; opening hours may be limited. Fuel (100LL and Jet-A) is available for cash payment. Hangar space may be available on request but is limited. Ground transport options are poor; taxis are frequently unavailable even with advance booking, though there have been rare instances of staff lending a car.

Approaches from the south may be obscured by the Lemberg mountain; deviation west of Lemberg leads directly into right base 08. Right-hand circuit for arrivals from the south is used. The Thyssen test tower is a local landmark near runway 08. Thermals can affect departures from runway 26 in sunny conditions. Some parking areas are uneven due to molehills.
