Civil Airfield Traben Trarbach/Mont Royal (EDRM)

EDRM sits in a scenic location high above a Mosel river bend, with a grass runway featuring a noticeable slope. Standard procedure is to land uphill on 36 and depart downhill on 18; the circuit is relatively tight, and a telecommunications mast near the southern runway end requires attention but does not generally pose problems. The first 100 meters of runway 18 can be uneven, but the surface is generally described as good. Motor and glider operations are coordinated considerately. PPR is required and handled smoothly by phone.

The airfield offers a restaurant with terrace and positive reviews for food, including Hungarian cuisine and homemade cake. The Moselsteig hiking trail passes directly by the field, enabling walks through vineyards to Kröv (35–75 minutes) or Traben-Trarbach (20–35 minutes downhill), with wineries and additional dining options in town. A viewpoint over the Mosel valley is located at the airfield exit.

Landegebühren are low; Example: landing fee about €10. Overnight parking has been cited at €5. No AvGas is available at the field.

Ground access to Traben-Trarbach is possible on foot (20–35 minutes downhill) or by taxi. The airport typically closes by 17:00 or 17:30.

In strong westerly winds, turbulence may occur short final to 36 due to terrain; procedures vary, see AIP/NOTAM. The radio frequency is 129.035 MHz.
