Civil Airfield Weiden/Opf. (EDQW)

The airfield features a narrow, short paved runway (approx. 550–570 meters, 10 meters wide) bordered by woods on one side and a hill on the other, making approaches and departures somewhat demanding, especially in summer or with higher weights. Turbulence may occur over the runway with easterly winds. The airfield is well maintained and generally described as friendly and welcoming, with helpful flight service staff.

There is an Italian restaurant (Pegasus) on site with a terrace overlooking the apron, open daily except Monday from 11:00 to 14:00 and again from 17:00; at times, service after lunch hours may be limited. The Aeroclub’s Fliegerstüberl offers cake and coffee on weekends and holidays from around 14:00. Fuel available includes Avgas and JetA1.

Parking is close to the restaurant, with hangar space sometimes available for short-term shelter. The walk to Weiden city centre takes about 45 minutes. On Sundays, a 25% surcharge applies to landing fees. Example: landing fee about €10. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
