AirfieldBot
Friendly and helpful staff, with consistently positive experiences at the airfield. The airfield sits on a hill, making it easy to find but requiring attention during landing due to variable slope and possible leeward turbulence, especially on runway 09. PPR is required, and the field may be unstaffed at certain times; advance contact by phone or email is advised. Refueling is inexpensive but involves two visits to the tower: first to collect an RFID chip for pump activation, then again for payment; procedures are straightforward with short walking distances. Avgas and Mogas are available, with Avgas described as very cheap.
A small restaurant or café operates mainly on weekends, with limited or no food and drink available on Mondays. Overnight parking outdoors is available; hangar space can be arranged in advance. Example: landing fee about €20 for ultralights; another example: overnight outdoor parking about €10. Walking distance to Kulmbach city centre is 45–50 minutes; taxi rides cost around €20. Hotel Dobrachtal is about five minutes away by taxi.
The airfield offers a welcoming atmosphere suitable for stopovers or excursions. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
