Friendly little aerodrome directly north of the Nuremberg CTR. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I find this airfield particularly hard to spot, even though it wasn’t our first visit, last weekend. Moreover, the runway could be a bit smoother. Otherwise all was good, once again.
We didn’t eat at the restaurant this time but on our last visit it was good.
We paid a bit over 40€ via aerops for landing and two days parking with a Mooney. Avgas price was OK, compared to other ADs in the area but I don’t know if this is general pattern or a one off.
If you don’t mind half an hour’s walk, you can reach the center of Herzogenaurach on foot. I think, they rent out bicycles but we didn’t try that.

Herzogenaurach (EDQH) offers straightforward approaches, a well-maintained airfield, and consistently friendly, professional flight service. The Italian restaurant on the field is frequently praised for quality and service. The town center is accessible on foot in about 15–20 minutes, with historic sites and shopping outlets nearby. Bicycles are available for use, and low-cost rental cars are offered; hotels are also close to the airfield.

Facilities include fuel (multiple types), parking, technical support, and a free internet hotspot. Tie-downs and parking are generally available; hangar space may be limited but solutions are often found. Leihfahrräder (loaner bicycles) are free, and rental vehicles are available at low rates. The airfield is suitable for non-commercial general aviation; PPR is not required for most ultralights except powered parachutes.

Fees are described as moderate or low. Example: landing fee about €10–20. Payment by voucher booklets is accepted.

Noise sensitivity is notable; strict adherence to circuit procedures is important to avoid complaints from local residents. The runway and taxiways are kept in good condition even in winter weather. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.

Overall, EDQH provides a welcoming environment with good amenities for general aviation pilots seeking access to the Herzogenaurach area.
