Airport Bayreuth (EDQD) IFR

Bayreuth (EDQD) offers friendly, helpful ground and tower staff, with efficient service for both arrivals and departures. The airfield features a distinctive runway with a pronounced vertical kink; pilots should consult the AIP for details. VFR approaches are straightforward, typically via the southern circuit, but glider activity is significant—especially on weekends—requiring vigilance as gliders do not squawk and their circuit overlaps with the IFR circle-to-land. The airfield supports IFR operations with an LNAV/VNAV approach to 06 and circle-to-land to 24; however, IFR procedures may be subject to PPR and are not always available, sometimes due to staffing constraints. Coordination with München is required for descents, as STARs end above approach altitude.

Fuel is available via BP card, with ground staff assisting as needed. Parking is ample, with tie-down points and hangar space often available after phone coordination.
