AirfieldBot
EDPS is Germany’s highest elevation airfield at over 2,700 feet, featuring a single sloped asphalt runway approximately 640–650 meters long. Landings are typically on runway 20, which has a 30-meter elevation gain and requires careful planning; departures are usually on runway 02, with high trees and houses near the end. Approaches involve flying low over a quarry, with possible up- and downdrafts above it. The airfield is considered challenging and best suited to pilots with some experience, especially in wind.
PPR is required, typically arranged by phone; staff are described as exceptionally friendly and helpful. The airfield has a restaurant with Bavarian character, coffee and cake available, and a welcoming atmosphere for visiting pilots. Fuel is available on site and can be obtained without complications. Example: landing fee about €10.
The operator may offer rides to the nearest town or restaurant. The location provides unique flying experiences in scenic surroundings near the Czech border.
