Civil Airfield Eichstaett (EDPE)

PPR is required and can be requested by email, with prompt responses. The airfield is situated above the Altmühl valley, with approaches to runway 11 involving a hill before the threshold and possible downdrafts; approaches to runway 29 are over high forest. The runway is grass, with a noticeable bump in the middle that can cause aircraft to bounce, especially if landing on that section; bugwheel unloading is recommended. Footpaths cross the runway in places, making those areas wavy. There is frequent glider activity. Walking to Eichstätt takes 20–25 minutes downhill through the forest; returning uphill is steep and often done by taxi (about €15). Drinks are available in the clubhouse, which also has a heated stove; no mention of food service. Mogas and Avgas are available, with payment by invoice possible for Mogas. No landing fee is charged, but donations are welcomed; Example: landing fee about €10. A fenced playground is located next to the apron.
