Pilot Comments for EDNW
Sebastian
Weißenhorn Airfield (EDNW) is a relaxed and welcoming place. On summer weekends, the airfield is bustling with glider and winch operations.
Mogas and Avgas are available, though the fuel station is currently being renovated and should be operational again by the end of 2025. PPR can be requested spontaneously via radio and is handled with great flexibility. While there is no official restaurant directly at the field, you'll find a hotel and several restaurants within walking distance by the highway. A short stroll will also take you to the charming old town of Weißenhorn. The Weißenhorn-Eschach train station is also in walking distance, offering easy access to Ulm or other sourrounding cities.
The taxiway is a bit hilly, but the grass runway is in good condition, with an additional 175 meters of usable surface on each end, for a total of at least 1,000 meters. For departures from runway 08, a right turn is recommended after takeoff to avoid the village. When departing from runway 26, turn to the south before the motorway junction hill and the power lines there.

Friendly atmosphere with helpful staff. The grass runway is officially 650 meters, but usable length is about 1000 meters due to overruns on both ends, making operations straightforward for most general aviation aircraft. Power lines are present shortly after the departure end of runway 26 and require attention. A small on-field restaurant offers terrace service.
