Pilot Comments for EDNH
Joachim
Beautiful, relaxed grass strip. The Aero Café is a highlight. Lovingly decorated terrace, small but excellent menu, friendly staff. Bad Wörishofen is worth a visit for the café alone. Anyone who has Ground Transportation sorted out can also get to the well-known thermal spa or the Skyline amusement park.
AirfieldBot
EDNH features a family-run atmosphere with a well-regarded restaurant and terrace that attracts both pilots and non-flying visitors. The airfield has an 800 m grass runway, generally free of potholes but crossed by several hardened farm tracks every 200 m, creating mild undulations. Some reports note significant unevenness and the need for careful performance calculations, especially due to the slightly uphill sections and potential density altitude effects. Grass height on the runway and taxiways can reach 5–10 cm, sometimes requiring extra power during taxi. Obstacles include high trees about 150 m beyond the eastern end of the runway, a high-voltage power line 1 km east, and at least 10 m obstacles immediately after both runway ends. For final approach to 08, visual cues include a sports field and hall; for 26, the western shore of Irsinger See and a forest edge assist with alignment. A nearby glider field is located 2 km north.
The café is praised for its food and cake, with no reported pilot discount. Example: landing fee about €20. Taxis to local attractions such as Skyline Park or Therme Bad Wörishofen are available, with journeys around €10 each way; walking distance to town is not specified. The airfield is considered suitable for experienced pilots or well-powered aircraft due to runway characteristics.
Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
