Pilot Comments for EDMO
Patrick
PPR required. Modern GA terminal, friendly Bavarian atmosphere, good option for Munich downtown access. All in all ok but with some issues regarding fuel and passport control. Jet A fuel available (Note: WFS fuel release is not accepted). First issue: It seems the Ops office did not forward the pre-emailed fuel release to the fueling company, which caused a delay on two separate occasions as the release had to be sent to the fueler directly which didn't work straight away ("I can't open the pdf..."). Also once the release was sent it was rejected ("we don't accept WFS.."). If the ops office would have replied that right away a few days before the flight, a different release could have been arranged 🤷♂️. Second issue was passport control 🛂. Even though departure movement and requirement for passport control was advised early in advance, the waiting time and subsequent delay, for police to show up, was 1 hour. And this with a CTOT down the back causes unnecessary stress and pressure which is detrimental to flight safety. EUropean aviation at its best 💩. Reason given was that there is no police stationed at the airport and a regular patrol unit does passport checks and it "always takes so long...". So for intra EU/intra Schengen EDMO is a good option with a friendly vibe but for non EU/non Schengen beware and bring plenty of time, then it should be fine. Landing/handling/parking fee for 2 nights with a few pax was about 1700€ incl. VAT for 9000kg MTOM.

EDMO accepts only business flights and requires PPR, which is typically granted via an online form or handling agent. Only IFR operations are permitted; VFR is not allowed. Handling is mandatory and arranged through companies such as RAS or RVS, with staff meeting passengers directly at the aircraft. The airport offers ILS and LPV approaches, and Munich ATC provides vectors before handover to EDMO tower.
Jet-A1 fuel is available, but no avgas. Aircraft are moved to the fueling position for refueling. Lounge facilities are present, though some reports mention minimal need for them due to direct airside access.
Fees are high, with examples ranging from about €150 for 8 hours parking to about €600 for 24 hours, and a one-hour stop costing about €450; a 15% surcharge may apply in winter. Only aircraft above 2 t MTOW are accepted.
EDMO is significantly closer to Munich than EDMA, making it convenient for business trips. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
