Landshut also allows flying without an operations manager. After a short briefing at the Tower, you are registered with your license number and can then also go ahead with sunrise and sunset flights.

At present, each operation (departing before the start of aerodrome operations or landing after the end of aerodrome operations) is charged separately. Likewise, circuits are not permitted without an operations manager. That would be a nice option for long summer evenings. Maybe that will come later :)

Large, beautiful airfield. Fuel station with MOGAS, JET, and AVGAS. Most of the tower controllers are friendly and have by now also dropped the previously familiar “tower-controller traffic directing.” Everything is straightforward now. Landing fees are OK, but not a bargain. For such a nice field, though, that fits. A bit odd: there seem to regularly be two employees on site (tower and cashier). However, there is no AeroPS (seems to be a Niederbayern problem), which unnecessarily creates costs for the shareholders and unnecessarily deprives pilots of service. No AeroPS, no 5-star rating. The restaurant is open every day in summer and the value for money is good.

EDML offers a friendly atmosphere with generally helpful staff and a well-maintained, long asphalt runway. No PPR is required during published operating hours, but for cross-border flights customs can be arranged with 2-hour PPR via an online portal; a customs fee of about €20 applies. The airfield is suitable for VFR operations and has self-service fuel pumps for Avgas and Jet-A1; credit cards are accepted, though EC cards are limited to €80 per transaction and may require multiple uses.

Landing fees are moderate. Example: landing fee about €20. Payment is handled efficiently at the C office. Facilities include a popular on-field restaurant with a terrace and a beer garden about 5 minutes on foot from the airfield, both well regarded for quality and service. Bicycles are available for rent at around €20 per day, and rental cars can be arranged via airport operations.

Pilots should familiarize themselves with the local circuit, especially due to noise-sensitive villages near the pattern and specific reporting requirements for all segments because of frequent training traffic. The circuit entry can involve limited visibility of the field on right downwind for runway 25 due to terrain; visual cues such as the A92 highway bridge may assist. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
