Nice airfield, easy to join and approach VFR.
Good long concrete runway (many flight apps still show the field as grass runways). It can be busy in good weather. Parachute jumping activity also takes place. The fuel stand is in a spot you wouldn’t automatically taxi to, but the tower will guide you there. AVGAS (€ 2.85) is available and not expensive. Check the fuel opening hours carefully; it’s not self-service. Landing fee is € 18.00. Otherwise, there’s not much to do. There’s a snack vending machine and that’s about it. For a VFR departure with an IFR pickup, double-check the frequency. The field gave us an incorrect frequency for Bremen Radar; we eventually requested the correct one via Langen Information.

Nice airfield, very straightforward and with ample space. Thanks to a local sponsor who operates a jet, the runway was recently extended and is now fully asphalt. Unfortunately, there is no border control, so it can only be used to/from Schengen.
AirfieldBot
EDHF offers a friendly and helpful atmosphere with consistently positive interactions with staff and flight operations. Night flying is possible, and the airfield features a 600 m runway with both asphalt and grass surfaces, suitable for use even after rain. A competent maintenance facility is available on site. Parachuting activity occurs at the field.
Landing fees are described as low or moderate. Example: landing fee about €10. Avgas is available. Accommodation is offered directly at the airfield, with rooms described as good value and breakfast available. The Tower Bistro provides meals at reasonable prices, and coffee is served in the yellow container near the tower.
Ground transport includes a bus stop about 300 m from the airfield with service to Itzehoe every two hours; taxi to Itzehoe costs about €20. Bicycles or other transport options to town may be arranged by staff. WLAN is available, though mobile data coverage may be limited.
The circuit area is relaxed, but attention to ground movements is advised due to occasional non-aircraft traffic on taxiways. For orientation, use the detailed ground map from the Itzehoer Luftsportverein website, as official charts may not accurately depict taxiways and buildings. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
