Anspach/Taunus Airport (EDFA)

PPR is required and can be confirmed at short notice by email. The airfield is primarily used for gliding and features a grass runway in an attractive setting. The runway is generally in good condition for a grass field, but the southern parking area can be very soft, making departure difficult without significant power. At times, the grass has been high and the surface extremely soft, especially on sloped terrain, which can complicate acceleration; lighter loading is advisable. A wind measurement mast near final 06 is difficult to see at circuit height and not always marked on approach charts; extra caution is needed in this area. The circuit pattern is large and shaped for noise abatement due to sensitive local residents—strict adherence is necessary.

A café or restaurant operates on the field, with positive remarks about quality and value. Example: landing fee about €20, payable via AEROPS. Staff are described as friendly and helpful, with some flexibility around PPR arrangements. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
