Obermehler/Schlotheim Airport (EDCO)

Large, well-maintained airfield with a long asphalt runway (approx. 1400–1450 m) and spacious apron. VFR operations are standard; PPR may be required in some cases. The atmosphere is described as friendly and accommodating, with helpful staff and a welcoming environment. Overnight stays inside the terminal building are possible with own sleeping gear, and WC, shower, and kitchen facilities are available. Hangar parking is sometimes available; outdoor parking is also possible.

No fuel is currently available. No restaurant or bistro operates on the field, though coffee is often offered by staff; a kitchen is accessible for self-catering. Taxis to Mühlhausen cost around €50. Rental cars can be arranged by phone for about €10 per day plus fuel, subject to availability. Bicycles may be provided for local transport.

The airfield is generally quiet with little traffic, and the runway, taxiways, and apron are in good condition. Occasional vehicle driver training may occur on the apron but ceases when aircraft are present. For excursions in the area, arranging ground transport in advance is recommended.
