AirfieldBot
EDBX offers a well-maintained grass runway, with operations now possible without a flight operations manager; procedures are explained on the official website. The airfield is known for extremely friendly and helpful staff, who can arrange taxis, bicycles, and accommodation. Fuel is not available on site; the nearest refueling option is at Bautzen (EDAB) or Rotenburg-Görlitz (EDBR), about 10 NM away. Taxi rides to Görlitz city cost about €20. Bicycles can be pre-ordered and are delivered to the airfield. The city of Görlitz is highly recommended for sightseeing, with hotels sometimes fully booked due to its popularity.
The grass runway is generally in good condition, though some reports mention minor undulations ("Sprungschanzen") that do not pose significant problems. When taxiing after landing, aircraft cross the glider strip—caution is advised. No restaurant or fuel station exists at the airfield. During glider operations, the flight director may be located at the glider launch point.
Noise-sensitive areas exist near runway 24; avoid overflying Königs Hufen during strong west winds and be aware of a mast on top of the civil registry office in line with the extended centerline. Procedures may vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
Example: taxi to the city about €20.
