Long grass runway, easy approach. Aerodrome management also handles the restaurant, so they came across somewhat stressed and brusque, and the passive role on the radio, which only provides general information and does not exercise traffic control, did not seem to have reached EDBS yet as of May 2025.

The grass runway is in good to improved condition, with some reports of a rough or bumpy taxiway. Card payment is possible in the on-field restaurant, which offers a terrace and daily changing meals. The airfield is located conveniently near the A71 autobahn north of Erfurt. Overnights are possible on site, and Avgas and Mogas are available. There is a collection of old military aircraft on display. Example: landing fee about €5.
