Magdeburg-Cochstedt offers a large airfield with full airport infrastructure and a 3000 m+ runway. The airport is suitable for IFR and night flight training. On weekends, the control zone is inactive and only information service is available. Intersection takeoff is reportedly not permitted. Security procedures require passing through a metal detector to access the bistro, which is located outside the secure area. Magdeburg city is approximately 30 km away.
Personnel at the tower, apron, fire service, and restaurant are described as very friendly and helpful. Support for night flying and training is highlighted positively, and there is mention of a guesthouse on site. Lande fees are described as very low; Example: landing fee about €15.
