Arnstadt Alkersleben Airport (EDBA)

EDBA is a well-maintained airfield with a friendly and helpful staff. The asphalt runway is of sufficient length for stress-free landings and takeoffs, and the airfield is easy to find. No PPR is required for NVFR. All common fuel types, including SuperPlus, AvGas, and Jet, are available at market prices, with payment by cash or card. Hangar space may be available with prior telephone arrangement.

Landing fees are moderate. Example: landing fee about €15. Overnight hangar parking is available; example: about €10 per night.

On-site facilities include a small pilot lounge or flier meeting point, occasional weekend snack bar ("Landebahnhaus 27"), and coffee offered by staff. There is no full-service restaurant reported. Toilets may require a walk of up to 1 km from the apron.

Ground transport options are good: app2drive rental cars are available at the field, enabling access to Erfurt in about 20 minutes; taxi rides to Erfurt cost around €30 one way. Bike rental is also possible. Wülfershausen can be reached on foot in about 15 minutes for local shopping or visiting the Goldhelm chocolate factory.

Use caution for glider activity at and near the airfield, especially on weekends and holidays. Fallschute operations occur north of the field; avoid overflying inhabited areas nearby due to local sensitivities.

EDBA is suitable as a stop for visiting Erfurt or the surrounding region, offering essential services and straightforward operations for general aviation pilots. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
