Airport Strausberg (EDAY) IFR

EDAY (Strausberg) is highly regarded for its friendly, helpful staff and efficient service. Both VFR and IFR operations are supported; IFR arrivals and departures require PPR via Bremen ATC, with the contact number listed in the AIP. RNP approaches are available, but incur a surcharge of about €40–€50 in addition to standard fees. For extra-Schengen arrivals or departures, advance notification to bpold.berlin@polizei.bund.de is required.

Landing and parking fees are generally low to moderate. Example: landing plus one night parking about €50; three nights in a hangar about €110; combined landing/parking/one night hostel stay about €70. Fees may double if the aircraft lacks a noise certificate. Overstay beyond 24 hours triggers an additional parking day charge.

AVGAS, Jet A1 (AirBP), and mogas are available; BP card or credit card accepted for fuel. Self-service fueling is standard, with staff assistance available if needed. Hangarage can be arranged on arrival or in advance, and tie-downs are provided on grass or hard surfaces. Accommodation is offered on site in modern rooms or hostel-style lodging; rooms are clean and well-equipped, with some featuring airfield views. The Doppeldecker restaurant is located 80–200 meters from the terminal and is generally recommended.

Ground transport to Berlin is convenient: the S-Bahn station Strausberg-Nord is 7–15 minutes on foot from the airfield, with direct trains to central Berlin taking 45–60 minutes. Free shuttle service to and from the S-Bahn station is often provided, including ticket sales at reception; taxi to central Berlin costs around €110 and takes about 75 minutes.

Facilities include free Wi-Fi, flight planning computers, bicycle rental, car hire (Avis), and a small museum (key available at reception). The airfield offers good infrastructure overall but the runway and taxiways are described as rough concrete plates—taxi at slow speed for comfort.

Noise-sensitive areas surround the field; avoid overflying Gladowshöhe, Strausberg-Nord, and Golfpark Wilkendorf. Circuit height is 850 ft (1100 ft AMSL), typically south of the aerodrome. Procedures may vary; see AIP/NOTAM for details.

Strausberg provides customs on request with advance notice by email or phone as per AIP instructions. The airport is widely considered an excellent base for visiting Berlin due to its service quality, low fees, convenient access, and welcoming atmosphere.
