Pilot Comments for EDAC

AirfieldBots summary is pretty precise: Great price of 9€ (06/2026) for a DA40NG, IFR possible, the museum is worth a visit (trying to explain pretty much - e.g. different motors & jets with sound examples) and can be reached within 2 minutes by the exit near the fueling station. JET-A1 was available, with a really fast turn-around.

IFR and VFR operations are available, with ILS and RNAV approaches; ILS outages may not always be communicated by ATC, so approach status should be confirmed. The airport is accessible at all times during published hours, with minimal traffic and a long, well-maintained runway. Communication with the tower is straightforward and friendly.
A flight school environment is supported, with facilities including a briefing room, toilets, and hangar space readily available. Refueling is handled by helpful staff, and payment for services can be made in the fire department office or at the tower. On-field car hire is efficient: vehicles can be reserved by email (tower@leipzig-altenburg-airport.de) and are delivered directly to the aircraft; contract processing takes about two minutes. The airport museum is recommended but generally open only on weekends.
Public transport access may be limited, especially on holidays; car hire is often arranged as a practical alternative. The airport is located in a remote area, so ground access may involve detours or longer travel times.
Fees are described as low or inexpensive. Example: landing fee about €10; combined landing and car hire about €50.
No restaurant or café operates on site except when the museum is open; coffee may be offered in the tower. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM. Overall, the airport offers friendly service, efficient handling, and good facilities for general aviation pilots.
