PPR is required, typically arranged by phone or email; providing estimated arrival time before departure is requested. The airfield is VFR only, with four grass runways arranged as two parallel pairs, all situated on a hill with thresholds lower than the ARP. Runways cross on a hump, causing noticeable bumps at intersections; takeoff performance may be affected. Airplanes use the right runway with right-hand circuit; glider activity is extensive and intense, especially on good weather days, and gliders use parallel runways. The preferred parking for airplanes is P2. The adjacent EBSU military field is off-limits but can be overflown; avoid the nearby church marked on approach charts.
Radio communication for information and instructions is available in English, though most local traffic uses French. The A/G controllers are friendly and helpful. Orientation on the ground can be challenging due to intersecting runways, but staff assist as needed.
Facilities include mogas and avgas fuel, overnight hangarage, a hotel, a pilot shop in the tower building, and a bar/restaurant (“100 Ciels”) with terrace views over the Ardennes and typical Belgian food. WiFi is available in the restaurant. Parking is in front of the hotel/restaurant.
Landing fees are low; Example: landing fee about €15. No customs services are available.
The airfield offers a welcoming atmosphere and is suitable for general aviation leisure stops or overnight stays. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
