Pilot Comments for EBOS

Visited EBOS in March 2026. AVGAS-powered aircraft are definitely welcome. I did not try refuelling AVGAS, but it might require prior notice. A noise certificate is required and can be emailed to info@nsac.aero. There is conflicting information about the need for PPR - I submitted a request here: https://ebos.amsy.aero/pilots_registration and received an instant confirmation email with a link.
The General Declaration must be submitted online to the police: https://www.police.be/bordercontrol/en/general-declaration. A similar declaration must also be sent to the customs email: da.luchthaven.oostende@minfin.fed.be. According to this document: https://drive.google.com/file/d/16iKF9rMwxopFcjxltIHmhD4BIFSZNKIM/view, it can be the same form, but before I noticed that, I submitted the form available on the EBOS website: https://www.ostendebruges-aeroport.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/GEN-DEC.pdf.
All of this must be done both on arrival from abroad and on departure. Obiously, a visit from the UK also requires submitting an sGAR.
As far as I understand, there is a significant handling charge for crossing the NSAC terminal door after 20:00 or before 08:00 (local) - the time of landing or take-off does not matter.
I paid €95.28 for <2 MTOW, 2 POB, 23+ h parking. There was no itemised bill, so I am not sure what contributed to the price, but this is the most expensive airfield for a stop right across the Channel that I have visited so far. Nevertheless, the airport is very nice and Oostende has plenty of attractions, hotels, and good food, so I will definitely visit again, but I might look elsewhere for a quick border / refuelling stop.

Emailed NSAC, no handling is required, just the Belgium GENDEC (https://www.police.be/bordercontrol/en/general-declaration )
Email to NSAC is okay to notify them, no need to though. Parking on Apron 3.
Security Fee EUR1,19 + Admin Fee EUR2,78.
Total EUR52.89

Ostend (EBOS) is a large, GA-friendly airport with ILS and RNP approaches on both runways, no slot requirement, and 24/7 opening. Handling is not mandatory for aircraft under 2 tonnes MTOW; above this, handling by North Sea Aviation Center (NSAC) is required and significantly increases costs. For some aircraft types, PPR may be required but is typically granted promptly by email. The airport features a modern GA terminal with excellent facilities, including a comfortable lounge and free refreshments. The Runway 08/26 restaurant offers terrace seating with apron views.
Fees for light GA under 2 tonnes are generally moderate, with examples ranging from about €50 to €100 for landing and overnight parking, including VAT and security/admin surcharges. Example: landing, overnight parking, and handling about €150. Fees increase substantially for aircraft over 2 tonnes due to mandatory handling; one example totals about €270 for a day visit with four persons on board. Parking is free for the first six hours, then charged per ton per day. A per-passenger fee applies above two persons.
Avgas and Jet A1 are available; fuel can be delivered directly to the aircraft, though occasional delays have been noted. Payment by card is accepted. The GAT operates 8–20 LT; outside these hours, prior handling booking is needed.
Ground transport is convenient: bus line 6 stops in front of the GA terminal and main terminal (about 8 minutes’ walk apart), connecting to Oostende central station in roughly 10–15 minutes (€2.50–3). From there, trains to Bruges run every 15–20 minutes (about €6–9 return), with total travel time to Bruges around 30–35 minutes by public transport or €20–100 by taxi depending on provider.
Customs and immigration are available on site during airport hours; flights from the UK require completion of both police and customs general declaration forms (GENDEC), accessible via official websites. Passport control is efficient and usually does not require advance notice.
Hi-vis vests are required airside. Chocks are provided but tie-downs may not always be available. The airport has a long runway suitable for all weather operations; ATC service is professional and English-speaking. Approaches may involve holding due to parachuting or traffic; see AIP/NOTAM for current procedures.
EBOS offers efficient service, modern facilities, good access to the coast and Bruges, and remains one of Belgium’s most accessible airports for non-commercial GA flights under 2 tonnes MTOW.
